Featherweight Lucas Brennan was eager to pick up his first UFC win in his second attempt, but a blown ACL has forced him out of the bout vs. Austin Bashi. The fight was expected to take place Nov. 7 at Meta APEX.
Brennan (11-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) confirmed the news in an Instagram post Thursday. His injury was first reported by Danny Podolsky .
"Well, news is out. I will no longer be fighting on the November 7th card at the @metaapex here in Las Vegas," Brennan wrote. "Been attempting to thug out a pretty gnarly knee injury for a minute now, turns out I have a full thickness tear of my ACL. Not the post I wanted to be making. I've had up until this point, a phenomenal camp coming into the fight which doesn't happen often. Insane schedule, but the training across the board in every department has been great and the ground I covered physically and technically will sadly have to be shelved from your eyes for a later date.
"I have already experienced ill-preparation going in, and have no desire to get in there again without being as close to 100% as I can be, especially now that I'm more or less a pogo stick. Thank you to my teams, coaches, the @ufcpi staff, training partners and sponsors and everyone involved for getting me to this point. Quite the wrench thrown into things, but fuck it we ball. Apologies to my opponent, I know this leaves you in a shitty position and I hope they're able to find you someone you can slime out in the meantime. I'll be back bigger and better boys. See you soon."
It's unclear if Bashi (14-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will remain on the card. If he does, he'll look to bounce back after a unanimous decision loss to Jose Delgado in July.
